FROM THE ACTING PRINCIPAL
St Joseph’s Learning Spaces
We often have people ask us how our rooms operate and why we do what we do. Over the term, I will share with you the reasons why we love our teaching and learning spaces and philosophy.
Reason Number One: Small group workshops allowing for target teaching according to need.
Reason Number Two: Our rooms enable students to move regularly.
Reason Number Three: Our learning spaces enable regular collaboration opportunities.
Reason Number Four: Our learning spaces help build positive relationships.
Reason Number Five: Since beginning this philosophy of teaching and learning, we have seen a significant decline in students sent to the office for misbehaviour. We have noticed greater engagement from students in all year levels.NAPLAN

RELIGIOUS MATTERS
3rd Sunday of Lent
The Woman at the Well.
Living the Gospel – Personal encounter
The Samaritan woman’s personal encounter with Jesus compels her to start spreading the good news about the amazing man she has met. She meets Jesus face to face and feels compelled to act on what she has felt. Lent is a time for each of us to again – or for the first time – seek out a face-to-face encounter with Jesus. Through prayer, contemplation on scripture or reflection on encountering Jesus in the face of others, we build a one-to-one relationship with Jesus. When we acknowledge this relationship, like the Samaritan woman, we are compelled to act on it.

OLHC Children’s Mass
A huge thank you to all the wonderful families who came along to our Children’s Mass on Saturday night. It was such a joy filled evening and many of our OLHC parishioners have commented on how uplifting the Mass was.
It really serves as a great reminder that community is built through connection and spending time with others. To see the children come along to Mass; proclaiming the readings, leading the hymns, offering the gifts, and especially playing together after Mass reminded me so much of how making Mass an important part of our family life can enrich us in many ways.
Sacramental Program
Please refer to the notice that went out on our SkoolBag app calling for expressions of interest for our 2023 Sacramental Program. This program is open to children who will be 9 years of age (or older) in 2023.
Your family's journey through the Sacraments allows you and your children to develop a deep sense of belonging to our Catholic faith community and a richer relationship with one another and with our God.
We would love to have you join us. If your family would like more information, please use the QR Code below:
Please note that enrolments for this year’s programme need to be finalised before the 19th of March 2023.

NAPLAN
We wish our Year 3 and Year 5 students well as they sit for NAPLAN today and Thursday. NAPLAN is an annual assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It tests the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The tests cover reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy skills. The assessments are undertaken every year.

VOLUNTEERS
In 2023, we look forward to welcoming volunteers back to school. There are various ways you can volunteer at Joey's. If you’d like to volunteer in the tuckshop, please get in touch with the office or catch up with our tuckshop convenor – Mrs Debbie Rooney. If you’d like to volunteer in your child’s classroom or perhaps another classroom, please approach the class teacher to see what activities are available to assist with.
Before beginning your volunteering, you must complete a volunteer induction; this will happen in the office before you start. Even if you have completed an induction before, the induction must be done every year. If you are a grandparent or community member, please pop into the office and see Tracey or Megan to collect a Volunteer Blue Card Application. For this process, you will require a copy of your driver licence certified by a JP or someone similar.
We look forward to welcoming many volunteers to Joey's this year.
MEDICAL DETAILS
Please ensure your child/ren’s medical details are up to date. To check this information, log on to parent lounge and check the medical tab. Please update if necessary. If your child has a medical action plan, please ensure it is current. If it is due for renewal, please drop a copy of the updated plan to the office or upload it to the medical section for your child in Parent Lounge. The school needs to have updated medical details on file. Your cooperation with this request is appreciated.
