FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents & Guardians

We will be celebrating the Blessing and Opening of our school buildings this Friday morning at 9:00am in our Multi Purpose Area. Please be aware that this is the same time as the scheduled weekly mass in OLHC and car parking may be limited with a number of special guests coming along.

Everyone is welcome to attend as we host the Bishop Michael McCarthy and Diocesan Director, Miss Leesa Jeffcoat from the Rockhampton Diocese, as well as many other special guests.

I hope to see you there.

The October P&F Meeting that was due to be held this week has been rescheduled to be a Combined P&F and School Board Meeting next week, Wednesday the 19th of October at 6:00pm in the school library. During this meeting we will be discussing the movement of the Parents & Friends Associations bank accounts under the school umbrella. This is happening Diocese wide and if you wish to hear about these processes, you are more than welcome to attend.

This Friday afternoon we will begin our Intra-school Sports for our Years 4-6 students. The program will run over 6 weeks and will focus on sport specific skills-based activities. Each Year Level will spend 2 weeks per rotation with the teachers from each of the Year Levels. The sports skills sessions on offer will be:

  • Basketball Skills
  • Cricket/Softball
  • Touch Football Skills

With a lot of things happening in a very busy final Term, I have tried to compile a list of important dates for the remainder of the year for those who would like to plan ahead for any of our end of year celebrations.

Lastly, all the very best for Mrs Leah Muhling (Yr 3 teacher) as she commences her Maternity Leave this Friday.  We look forward to seeing her new bundle of joy in the coming months.

RELIGIOUS MATTERS

28th Sunday Ordinary Time

Jesus cures ten lepars, one returns with thanks.

Luke 17:11-19

Gospel Focus – Where are they?

‘The other nine, where are they?’ asked Jesus. Why would the other nine not have come back to give thanks? It is insufficient to say that the miraculous healing these men experienced changed their lives. Being healed of this disease meant so much to them: they could return to their families; they could return to work; they could touch another person; they could walk among other people; they could join in prayer at the synagogue. As they hurried back toward town they must have been overwhelmed by the possibilities and opportunities that lay before them. But they neglected to acknowledge the source of their great joy!

@Liturgy Help – Greg Sunter

All members of our school community are warmly invited to join with our staff and students this Friday at 9am for the Blessing and Opening of our refurbished school buildings. This is a significant event in our school calendar and in fact, our school’s history and we would love you all to be part of it.
