Drawing our school year to a close will be our End of Year Mass this Friday, 2nd December. We will be celebrating with a whole school Mass commencing at 9:00am. The Mass not only provides us the opportunity of fare welling our Year 6 students for the final time, it will also incorporate the induction of our student leaders for the 2017 school year.

We must also be aware that we share Friday’s mass with the Parish so I request that we leave the parking spaces directly outside the church vacant for the use of our parishioners.

Please remember that during all of these celebrations that we not use the parking in the mall car park as retailers in the mall have previously complained that there is no parking for their patrons. In an effort to try and alleviate these parking issues we will be making parking available on the grassed area beyond the end of the Multi Purpose Area during both celebrations.

Class lists for next year will be posted in the windows of the new Media & Drama room near the school courtyard., tomorrow morning, Thursday, 1st December. Please note that all care has been taken in compiling these classes in an effort to ensure a balance of learning needs and behaviours, while endevoring to make sure each child has a friend in their class. Where possible all parental concerns and requests, expressed before the completion of classes, have been catered for.

Also worth noting is that the Year 4-6 students for next year will be in flexible learning areas and therefore together as a cohort.

Officially school concludes at 3:00pm on Friday, though some parents have enquired about students going home early. Students are able to go home with their own parents or guardians following Mass. Students wanting to leave with another child’s parent must have written permission to do so from their parents.

Don’t Forget …

* Wed 30/11 - Year 6 Mass of Thanksgiving & Dinner
* Thurs 1/12 - Year 6 Fun Day
* Thurs 1/12 - 2017 Class Lists Posted
* Fri 2/11 - End of Year Mass & 2017 Leader Induction

I hope you have a great last week and a happy, holy and most of all safe Christmas holiday break. We look forward to working with you again in 2017.

Regards

APRE REFLECTION

Christmas Prayer

Let Your goodness Lord appear to us, that we
made in your image, conform ourselves to it.
In our own strength
we cannot imitate Your majesty, power, and
wonder
nor is it fitting for us to try.
But Your mercy reaches from the heavens
through the clouds to the earth below.
You have come to us as a small child,
but you have brought us the greatest of all gifts,
the gift of eternal love
Caress us with Your tiny hands,
embrace us with Your tiny arms
and pierce our hearts with Your soft, sweet cries.

May you have a happy and holy Christmas Season

‘Vinnies’ Christmas Hampers – Term 4 Joeys Giving Plan

On Monday morning, Mrs Barb Cavanagh came to Joey’s to accept the many overfull Christmas hampers on behalf of the St Vincent DePaul Society. It was wonderful to see the great generosity of the Joey’s community and how much our school has provided to help local families in need over the Christmas holiday break.

Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause and making Christmas a special time for those that are less fortunate than us.

CURRICULUM NEWS

BOOKLISTS

2017 Booklists have been sent home. Please check with your child that they have received it. Once again Capricorn Educational Resources (CER) in Alexandra Street have offered to give a generous amount of money back to the school when Joeys parents purchase their school supplies from them. Of course you are able to purchase your child’s supplies from wherever you wish however I have worked closely with the ladies from CER and they guarantee supply of the correct equipment. Teachers put a significant amount of thought and time into developing the booklists so I ask that you provide your child with all the equipment listed. If purchasing from CER you are welcome to drop your order into school before the end of Term or take it directly to CER.

PREP SCRAPBOOKS

The Prep ABC Scrapbook on the booklist for 2017 is now available for purchase from the school office.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe Christmas holiday break and I look forward to seeing everyone back at school in 2017.

Regards,
Deanne Senini

As they year draws to an end it becomes a very busy time in Prep. Students took to learning their special song with ease and were very excited to dress up as Shepherd’s, Wise Men and Angles and sing to you all on Presentation Night. In the spirit of giving we want thank you all your wonderful donations for our Vinnies hampers, as they were overflowing. At this time of year we look back and can see how all the Prep students have grown so much, and a few students wanted to share with you their favourite part of Prep.

Making new friends and helping people.”

Learning all my sight words and writing.”

Writing about special things like Lest we Forget.”

Congratulations to all the Prep students and their families as they complete their first year of school. We wish you all a lovely, safe festive season. See you next year!

Thank you to all the visitors who came to view all the student’s artwork on Friday afternoon. The students enjoyed discussing their pieces with the many different visitors.

This term the students have enjoyed a range of different hands on activities from experiencing different art techniques and creating castles out of 3D shapes. Our last few days will involve various Christmas art and crafts where we are learning about some of the different Christmas traditions of other countries around the world and applying some of our new found knowledge in STEM tasks.

Last week Year 2 held an Art Gallery to showcase our visual art from the semester. Thanks to everyone who came along.

Another highlight for us was our Presentation Night song ‘Go Tell It On The Mountain’. We loved learning the song and were pretty impressed with our performance.

Thank you to Ms Lavender, Mrs McLellan and Mrs Roberts who spent time with us this year, helping us to be the best learners we can be. Thanks also to Mrs Evans for her help with our Monday literacy support time.

Have a happy and holy Christmas. See you all in 2017.

3A

This term the children have been extremely busy looking at how objects melt, what the climate is like in neighbouring countries and designing a magazine cover.

To finish the term the children have been exploring different types of instructions. They have looked at various recipes and craft instructions. The children have even written their own instructions for making a pizza! Yum!

Last week they were given instructions to independently follow and create a God’s Eye and a Christmas Lantern.

Enjoy the photos of the children working really hard on following instructions and helping each other out to successfully make these items.

3T

Mrs Tennyson and the Students in 3T would like to share a photo memory of our year.

KIDS CONNECT

On the 8 and 9 of November ten Year 6 students took part in Kids Connect conference held at the Kevin Castle’s Centre. Kids Connect is a two-day technology conference organised for kids by kids. This year St Anthony’s was the organising school and they did a great job. We were very fortunate to have the financial support of our P&F who covered our costs. We had a terrific time, learnt new skills, made new friends and had heaps of fun.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to the P&F.
